The Academic Staff College
The ASC has cooperated with Gauhati University in meeting its special needs such as training of nodal teachers from more than 150 colleges for introduction of mandatory Environmental Studies in undergraduate courses, and also for the training of Principals, Senior Teachers and non-Teaching staff of its affiliated colleges in implementing the new Reforms Package of UGC including the Semester System. Earlier Principals and Teachers of the Colleges were trained by the ASC in filling up of the Self-Study Report and to understand the process of Assessment and Accreditation of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), and hence the process of quality assurance. On behalf of the University, the ASC organized zonal meetings of Professor Yash Pal Committee for rejuvenation and renovation of Higher Education, UGC Pay Review Committee, Task Force of the Ministry of Human Resource Development on National Council for Higher Education and Research, and Examinations Reforms Seminar of the Association of Indian universities.
The ASC provides the meeting ground for teachers from Colleges and Universities to share their experiences and views in teaching, learning and framing of courses, question design and paper setting, etc.
